Kenilworth borough belongs to Union County. In the late 1890s an association called New Orange Industrial Association purchased land parcels from Cranford and Union which was divided into several building lots. These parcels formed what was then called New Orange. However, the name caused confusion for some as it coincided with the Oranges in Essex County. The town had to be renamed and the name Kenilworth came into effect in 1907. This small town is named Kenilworth which derived from the Kenilworth Club which wealthy business men belonged to.
